SUNNYSIDE–TAHOE CITY, Placer County — Homeowners preparing construction or utility changes within Tahoe City Public Utility District’s service area should verify water and sewer permit requirements before beginning excavation.
The district lists 2026 water and sewer connection-fee schedules and an application process for new service, changes to existing hookups and certain disconnections. TCPUD says initial plan review for a residential service application generally takes 10 to 15 business days after acceptance, with commercial applications taking up to 30 business days. A district inspector must examine permitted sewer and water work under the utility’s rules.
Those estimates are administrative targets, not a promise that every complex project receives approval within that period. Parcel location, site constraints, backflow prevention, sewer alignment and building-code approvals can add further steps. Not every property using a Sunnyside or Tahoe City mailing address necessarily has an identical utility connection.
What residents and visitors should know
The utility’s Technical Services number is 530-580-6281. Applicants should request a current written fee calculation, identify easements and confirm the responsible provider before retaining a contractor.
